City Hospital Chapel
City Hospital Chapel Volunteers
This is a really rewarding experience. We collect patients from their wards and wheelchair them to the Chapel Service on the first Sunday of every month. The eucharist is simple and ecumenical – often poignant because you have guessed what your patient is going through.
In 2007 we have lost three of our most faithful members Linda and Tony and Joan have had to give up because of hip problems making pushing difficult. David Nunns has joined us. We would welcome more recruits who can do some or (or every) first Sunday.
I often feel like a bit of a lie in on Sunday morning and have to shake myself to get to the hospital for 9.15am but when I leave (at about 11am) I’m always glad I made the effort, as I’ve met yet another brave and positive person who is really grateful for being given the opportunity to worship.
